Our Story

Henry the Bird started with our family.

Born and raised in Korea and now living in New York, Yeji has always carried pieces of both places with her. The traditions she grew up with, the things she loves about New York, her faith, and the experience of becoming a mother all find their way into her drawings.

Many of the things she draws have a story behind them. Some come from our family, some from memories and places we love, and others from the hopes we have for our children.

What started as drawings for our own children eventually became Henry the Bird.

Each blanket is a little world of its own, filled with details to discover and stories to grow with. We hope that as our blankets become part of your family's everyday moments, they begin to hold some of your stories too.

Why Henry the Bird?

The name Henry the Bird comes from two dreams that have been part of our family for generations.

Before Yeji was born, her family dreamed of a beautiful tree filled with jewels. Years later, before our first son Henry was born, our family had another dream, this time of a little bird wearing a crown.

In Korean culture, these dreams are called taemong. They are special dreams connected to the arrival of a child, often remembered and shared within families for years.

When Yeji began drawing for our children, those two dreams naturally found their way onto paper.

The jeweled tree became the heart of our Tree of Love, and the little crowned bird became Henry the Bird.

You may find pieces of our story hidden throughout our designs. A bird in the branches, a tiny jewel, a familiar place, or something inspired by our faith. Some are easy to find. Others are meant to be discovered over time.

They are small pieces of our family story, drawn into something we can share with yours.
